Project
Community Through Culture
Since July 2025, Berlin Mondiale has been implementing the pilot project “Community Through Culture – Strong Neighborhoods Between Shared Accommodations and Large Housing Estates” in Marzahn-Nord. In collaboration with local partners and cultural education institutions, an open cultural project space has been established in the neighborhood around Otto-Rosenberg-Platz.

The project is aimed at young refugees and their neighbors. Through artistic and creative activities, they actively participate, develop their own ideas, and collaborate with others. This fosters encounters, builds trust, and creates new connections between residents and the neighborhood.
Cultural education not only fosters creative development but also strengthens self-efficacy and promotes dialogue-based conflict resolution. By sharing their perspectives and helping to shape their social environment, participants can develop a sense of belonging and shared responsibility within and for the neighborhood. In this way, the project contributes to social cohesion and violence prevention in Marzahn-Hellersdorf and demonstrates how people can actively, collaboratively, and creatively shape their neighborhood.
The project is funded by the Berlin State Commission Against Violence as part of the “Fund to Support Victims of Political Extremist Violence,” which supports initiatives that facilitate dialogue, strengthen social cohesion, and promote participation—for a diverse and united Berlin.
