Berlin Concert Hall

At the start of the program, the Konzerthaus Berlin was undergoing a period of transition. A change in artistic direction was imminent, and internal processes already underway were aimed at making the institution more inclusive and sensitive to issues of discrimination.
As part of Jugendkulturinitiative , outreach efforts Jugendkulturinitiative be specifically expanded to forge new connections in Berlin neighborhoods beyond the immediate vicinity of Gendarmenmarkt. To this end, a dedicated outreach office was established for the first time.
At the same time, there was a high demand for extracurricular cultural programs in the Marzahn-Nord community, particularly to strengthen cultural participation among children and youth at risk of poverty.

Together with artists Hanni Liang and Kian Jazdi, the Konzerthaus developed a participatory concert project that actively involved children and young people in Marzahn in the artistic process. The resulting formats were presented both on-site and as part of the Aus den Fugen festival at the Konzerthaus. This created a space for dialogue between the city center and the outskirts, where young perspectives were given a voice and artistic work made visible within the social sphere what a concert hall can achieve today.

The outreach process that was initiated has led to greater cross-departmental collaboration within the organization and has tested new forms of socially oriented outreach. The experiences gained in Marzahn helped develop specific work processes for participatory projects and establish the importance of outreach within artistic planning.
In addition, a new partnership was established with the ORWOhaus, which has offered itself as a long-term partner for future projects in the social sphere. This has laid the groundwork for the Konzerthaus to further develop its role as a cultural actor throughout the city.
