Vertical Village Exhibition

Through their project “Vertical Village,” art students at the UdK are forming their own perspective on Gropiusstadt.
They are shifting their perspective and using the panoramic space of the 24-story high-rise at the Wutzkyallee subway station as a temporary workspace and starting point for an artistic exploration of the neighborhood. Through conversations with residents, they have the opportunity to share their observations and exchange ideas with them. This gives them insights into the history and neighborhood structure of the district and the residential high-rises. Subsequently, the students develop an artistic work based on the collected material, in which they explore the “Vertical Villages” in Gropiusstadt. The resulting works will be presented in an exhibition in the Berlin Mondiale container on Apfelsinenplatz.
Vertical Village is part of the bauhaus@gropiusstadt. Shaping Neighborhoods project in Berlin-Neukölln and was Jugendkultur by the Jugendkultur Initiative. The initiative is funded by the Senate Department for Culture and Social Cohesion and supported by the Berlin Mondiale accompanying program.
